If you ask a golfer on the course what is the best ball to tee up, most of them will respond very quickly with the brand name Titleist. Sure, Pro V1 is marketed as the number one ball in Golf, but what if I told you there is something very comparable in feel, $10-$15 cheaper, and lasts longer during a round?
You may think that I am crazy, but here at #DallasDivotReport we enjoy saving money and maximizing our equipment to it’s full potential. I can honestly say that I have been playing Golf for 25 years and have never paid for a dozen golf balls more than $40 dollars a dozen. Does this mean I am a cheap skate? No, it means that I feel there are golf balls in the market that offer the same amount as an expensive ball for less the price.
3 Up Golf has created a golf ball that could change the blinded golfer’s view on what golf ball is right for them. This weekend I had the pleasure to tee up the 3F12 golf balls by 3 Up Golf, and all I can say is WOW! Not only is it refreshing to see a new logo on a golf ball, the ball had a great feel in my hand alone. Most people may think I am crazy by being able to tell if a golf ball is right for me before I put it in play, but I was able to tell right away that I was going to enjoy the 3F12 golf ball by 3 Up Golf.
The balls were very forgiving and soft around the greens (I was using them on bermuda greens that were semi hard too). Off the driver face, the ball felt very solid and not too hard like the feel you get from some non major brands. My ball flight was regular, and I felt as if I could shape shots better than most balls (I could have been playing good that day, who knows).
In the end, in order to compare the 3F12 golf ball, I had to square it up against the best ball in the golf biz, the Pro V 1. Since it was slow, I was able to play a #1 ball (3F12) and a #2 ball (Pro V1) for my first nine holes of my round. Yes, I can shank a Pro V1 like I can shank a 3F12, but the thing that stood out the most to me comparing the 3F12 to the Pro V1 would have to be the ball’s DURABILITY. It is a rare that a golf ball is soft and durable, but I think 3 Up Golf was able to really master that. Believe it or not, but I managed to play both balls all the way to the ninth green and compare the two. The 3F12 was definitely worn, but that was expected. On the other hand, the Pro V1 was basically unplayable. Several cuts, scuffs, and that nasty yellow color showing from under the cover.
Pro V1’s can go for $50-60 per dozen, while the 3F12 balls sell for $39.99 ($3 is DONATED to a golf related charity). Some may say that for a virtually no name golf ball, $39.99 is still a lot. I say you shouldn’t knock it until you try it. The Golf industry is very competitive, and in order to put out a quality product you have to spend quality money to create it. I feel that the staff at 3 Up Golf has created a ball that is worth the $40, and will blow away the expensive golf ball market.
